=== Risk to Participants ===
Attending a Death Unto Darkness Event is not risk-free for participants - there are multiple risks to yourself, both from exposure while travelling to the event, and the risk of being exposed to an asymptomatic participant still exists even if they have done their best to test. This is a personal risk you are taking as an attendant and it is up to you to make that decision both for yourself, and to protect those around you you love.

''Until such a time that the Covid-19 threat diminishes to such a level where it is not prevalent in the population.''
If you are willing to take this risk then we ask the following;

=== Vaccination ===
* We request that participants have both of their Covid-19 Jabs plus any Booster Jabs required, there is clear evidence that the jab not only protects you against catching Covid-19 but also lessens the symptoms and reduces the risk you present to others - you are protecting the other attendees by being vaccinated.

It shall be a requirement for any participant who wishes to attend any DuD events (including sanctioned events) upon the resumption of live play to be '''fully vaccinated''' against Covid-19 in order to minimise their personal risk of exposure.
* We require any participant to take a lateral flow test at least 24 hours prior to the game (ideally the evening before the event) - if you test positive please do not attend, we will do our best to refund you or find a place for you in another event where that is not possible - this applies to crew and refs too. A PCR test within 48 hours is also acceptable.

We are aware not everyone can have the vaccine, but, it is our opinion that the risk to life for them is too high to attend our games in the current environment.
* If you test positive in the weeks following the game we ask that you inform the game team via our [[Contact Us|contact details]] - so that we may send a notification to all attendees that someone who attended the game has tested positive - your identity will be kept anonymous. Please keep us updated if you are confirmed to have C19 subsequently so we can keep your fellow participants informed and aware.

We will ask players to present proof of vaccination to the game team upon arriving to the site - this can be done non-intrusively by presenting your proof of vaccination (for UK players you can find how to retrieve this here, or whatever alternative proof is available for international attendees).
'''It is nearly impossible to make a LARP-game Covid-safe without not holding it at all''' however we would recommend the following of all attendees;

'''Please do not email this to us, we do not wish to retain your medical data.'''
* We recommend you do not share drinks and drinking vessels.

* We request that all smokers and vapers refrain from doing it anywhere near buildings or other participants, please remove yourself to somewhere far away from others.

=== Testing ===
* If you are uncomfortable and would prefer to stay at a distance then you may swap your build to be more ranged-focused so you can minimise your need to be in close proximity. Engaging in combat comes with increased risks, these are risks you are taking on by attending a LARP event in a pandemic.

It shall be a requirement for any participant who wishes to attend any DuD events (including sanctioned events) upon the resumption of live play to provide a negative Lateral Flow test performed on the day of the game; Lateral Flow Tests can be ordered for free [https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests here] and can be registered [https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result here] - upon registering your test result you will receive an email and a text (depending on contact details provided) either one of these can be shown to the game team as evidence - you can simply show this on a phone screen or as a printout on the day - do not email them.
* Where a skill says you have to be in close contact to use it, feel free to fudge a reason to be at a distance if yourself or your intended target is uncomfortable with you being close - if you are uncomfortable with someone being close, say it, and respect others when they say so - nobody will exploit this to game advantage, if such a case happened they will be dealt with as an individual.

The current government guideline is that you should be testing twice weekly - we do recommend this but do not require it.
[[Category:Rules]]

International attendees as well as UK players who have to report under a different system (such as NHS staff) can provide alternate evidence as appropriate to their own testing procedures - we simply want to ensure we have put in place measures to minimise the risk to all attendees and limit the spread of the virus.

=== Failure to Observe the Above ===

Deliberate failure to observe either of the above rules, and attending a DuD event without doing so truthfully and honestly will result in an '''immediate ban from DuD and all future events.'''

=== Social Distancing and Masks ===

Where social distancing is possible please follow the latest guidelines. Where a player is able to use a mask, it is recommended - but no judgement or commentary shall be provided to those who cannot wear them.

=== Refunds for testing Positive ===

If we are unable to provide a refund, tickets for those who test positive or isolate because of sharing a home with someone who tests positive will be able to be rolled forward to a future event. Crew credits towards priority booking will also be considered to be refunded.

Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic’s risk for all LARPers we will be attempting to reduce our per-event ticket fees in order to minimise the financial impact to players should they test positive.

=== Suspension of Rules During Covid-19 ===

'''Until further notice''' during the C-19 pandemic any rule that requires a character to touch another character or be within a set distance of them is suspended, we will do our best to provide an in-game stand-in for how this will work.

'''Until further notice''' Melee combat will be ''optional'' - this means that if an individual has not got a melee weapon drawn (even if they are wearing them on their person) you may not engage them in melee. Abilities that require melee contact will be covered by the rules above and determine how they work at any given event.

Engaging in consenting melee combat means that players have a personal choice at the risk of allowing someone within one meter of them - it is '''strongly recommended''' if engaging in melee that you wear a mask to reduce the risks.

''Any player who does not feel safe engaging in melee during the C-19 crisis is entitled to rejig their traits temporarily with no questions asked - and then return them in the aftermath.''

Risk to Participants

Attending a Death Unto Darkness Event is not risk-free for participants - there are multiple risks to yourself, both from exposure while travelling to the event, and the risk of being exposed to an asymptomatic participant still exists even if they have done their best to test. This is a personal risk you are taking as an attendant and it is up to you to make that decision both for yourself, and to protect those around you you love.

If you are willing to take this risk then we ask the following;

  • We request that participants have both of their Covid-19 Jabs plus any Booster Jabs required, there is clear evidence that the jab not only protects you against catching Covid-19 but also lessens the symptoms and reduces the risk you present to others - you are protecting the other attendees by being vaccinated.
  • We require any participant to take a lateral flow test at least 24 hours prior to the game (ideally the evening before the event) - if you test positive please do not attend, we will do our best to refund you or find a place for you in another event where that is not possible - this applies to crew and refs too. A PCR test within 48 hours is also acceptable.
  • If you test positive in the weeks following the game we ask that you inform the game team via our contact details - so that we may send a notification to all attendees that someone who attended the game has tested positive - your identity will be kept anonymous. Please keep us updated if you are confirmed to have C19 subsequently so we can keep your fellow participants informed and aware.

It is nearly impossible to make a LARP-game Covid-safe without not holding it at all however we would recommend the following of all attendees;

  • We recommend you do not share drinks and drinking vessels.
  • We request that all smokers and vapers refrain from doing it anywhere near buildings or other participants, please remove yourself to somewhere far away from others.
  • If you are uncomfortable and would prefer to stay at a distance then you may swap your build to be more ranged-focused so you can minimise your need to be in close proximity.
