4-731.597.M41 - Fall of the Heresiarch
Initial reports from the surface of Nivalis indicate that Heresiarch Ignatius Grulge and his closest accomplices have been arrested or slain by Imperial forces, news which begins to spread across the planet and sector with alacrity. Templar forces and the Fidelis Militia waver, seeking orders; the loyal and orthodox citizens rejoice.
4-732.597.M41 - The Battle of the High Cathedral
With Templar forces decapitated and wavering, the Archenemy forces on the ground - primarily Barbarians of the Weeping Eye, from the space hulk Durovera's Pain - surge toward the central Cathedral precinct, seeing an opportunity to burn the Sector’s central religious site to the ground and fall upon the undefended civilians sheltering beneath the consecrated walls.
They are sorely mistaken.
The wavering Templar forces fall back into the built-up outskirts of the Cathedral district - and find that at their backs is a defensive hard point. A young Proctor from the Arbites Precinct has rallied the Enforcers based there, arming the local population - and arming and deputising an increasing number of Qawm hunters and local civilian volunteers streaming into the city from the North-West. Arbites shotguns on the open field of battle would have their problems, but in the city’s byzantine streets and against under armoured barbarians, they are able to repulse two assaults across two days of bloody and brutal urban fighting. By the second day, the Templar chain of command seems to have stabilised, and for once in favour of targeting the Archenemy alone, but the defensive lines are rapidly becoming exhausted as the Barbarians spread out, probing the Imperial lines.
As it transpires, a spread-out line of Barbarians is very little match for a detachment of the Imperial Guard. A group of Letiferans, from the First Armoured and First Infantry, conduct a rapid flanking manoeuvre, emerging from cover in the northern hills and simple rolling south down the Eye barbarians’ lines to the cheers of the embattled Imperial lines. The city breathes out--
The forces of the Regency impact into the battlefront. A detachment of what is reported in news broadcasts as “large mutants” - Traitor Astartes, whisper the incautious - smash the Imperial lines to the South-East, forcing the Letiferan Guard to reorient and moving with terrifying speed to spread out and rally the Weeping Eye. The lines begin to descend into mayhem once again, and the Arbites Precinct itself is only saved from one of these ancient monsters by the intervention of a Holy Astartes. A Marine from the Carcharodons Chapter appearing seemingly from nowhere to strike at the invader and draw it away allows the Arbites to hold out another night, then another day. Rumour puts as many as ten of the monsters on the field, and supported by a small corps of Regency regulars they begin to pull the noose tight on the city. Imperial blood runs red through the shrines and streets.
4-744.597.M41 - A World’s Salvation
The Crusade Fleet now besieging the hulk in orbit barely had time to register the opening of a Warp rift before the arrival of a small corvette of ancient design, broadcasting the unexpected ident Òran na h-Eala - and a secondary transponder identifying her with the Lions of Nemea.
Eyewitness reports on the ground indicate that the Lions simply appeared, as if from nothing, with a whipcrack of displaced air and the eye-bending shift of a teleportarium. At least two squads of these mysterious Astartes takes the field; and in the face of organised peer resistance the Traitor Marines withdraw, taking with them the backbone of the Archenemy forces.
The fighting around the Cathedral has been brutal, but the urban centre of Nivalis has survived. The Lions melt away as rapidly as they arrived, their corvette declining all attempts at contact and vanishing into the asteroid belt in the outer system. In orbit, the Crusade Fleet reforms and regroups to begin meaningfully contesting the Hulk’s former void supremacy and setting down additional forces of the Imperial Guard to maintain the momentum established in defence of the Cathedral. Slowly but surely, the Archenemy forces on Nivalis are pressed into retreat.
- Inquisitor Corvinus: Broadly we had been willing to accept that we would have lost the central Cathedral district on Nivalis. We predicted acceptable casualties and likely defilement of the sacred ground requiring future scouring and exorcism. Without the… transition… of the Fidelis Militia - as we will now all politely refer to them in the presence of the Priesthood - to a loyal command, this would not have been achievable; not even with the “Lions” providing support. All modelling by my Office and Crusade High Command shows we are gaining momentum on Nivalis and will likely be able to gain the upper hand on world within the coming months. I suppose thanks are in order. Now get back to work; the wicked do not get rest or time off.
- Inquisitor Valtrois: To second my colleague above, you have exceeded our predicted performance and you should take pride in a job that has been executed to the highest order. I know many of you are in a great deal of pain due to lost companions and comrades; but after facing some of the greatest threats we have seen the Enemy bring to bear on these battlefields, you should take comfort in assurance that you have prevented many thousands of families sheltering within the shield-walls of the Cathedral districts of Nivalis from experiencing similar losses. The arrival of Traitor Astartes bearing the markings of the Archtraitor on the warfront appears to have been as much a surprise to our Astartes allies as it has been to us. This is a worrying development and heralds a new phase in our defence of Subsector Secundus, if a whole warband of our enemy’s greatest warriors are in situ.
4-756.597.M41 - Durovera’s Forbearance
As rumours of the changing situation on Nivalis continue to pour out into the Sector, the markets respond - and with them, the Rogue Trader turned Sector Governor. To the surprise of many, after clearly receiving a rapid briefing on the evolving situation, Hermione Durovera sends a summons to a small handful of scattered noble Houses of Nivalis to attend to her. It is widely understood that one of their members is likely to be returned as the Governor of the world - and widely noted that every single one of them is of mixed Qawm and Imperial heritage, families marginalised by their "lesser bloodlines" and connections to the world. Of further import is that not a single one is an ordained member of the Ecclesiarchy - heralding that the world will very soon be reclassified from a Shrine World to an Imperial World.
- Hermione Durovera (secretly recorded at Court, engaging with her Void Hound retinue): “I am sure the Ecclesiarch is going to be fuming, Battle Brother, but as I understand it he was one of the driving voices of the recall of your vessel stranding you here. I already have to endure that uptight Qawm in her ridiculous uniform on Polarnus, what’s another at this stage, really? I might bark out “Imperium Prosperitas” for the masses, but that’s what they want… let some settlers murder some Annwfyn over land on one world, give the Qawm a home on another, that’s just colonial management. This way I have a friend on Nivalis, my House controls their trade, and I don’t have to deal with any priests plundering my tithe.”
++ Instructions from the Lord-Inquisitor ++
Agents who wish to bring further details of the situation on Nivalis to the attention of the Ordos Prosperitas, take heed:
- The command team of the deployment to Nivalis may, if they so choose, jointly submit a report to the Lord-Inquisitor.
- This report may be of any length; but
- This report must include a no more than one page summary of headline items and any recommendations for further actions.
- Such recommendations will be weighted strongly in consideration of further steps to be taken by the Holy Ordos.
- Any agents with the rank of Interrogator or equivalent may submit a report on behalf of their Cell.
- These reports may be no longer than one page in total;
- These reports may make one recommendation for future action;
- Such recommendations will be considered for action if they do not conflict with the mission command team’s recommendations.
++ Judgements of the Conclave ++
By the writ of the Holy Conclave of the Inquisition in the Prosperitas Sector the following judgements are to be recognised by all parties;
- Heresiarch Ignatius Grulge, rendered unto the judgement of the Ordos Prosperitas by Agents of the Throne on Nivalis, is hereby considered to have been executed at the request of the Ecclesiarch himself. Biological materials from Ignatius Grulge have been shipped to Duroverum to be presented to him upon his arrival in-sector within the next six months. Prisoner-designate “Sebastian” has been remanded to the mercies of the Explicators of the Conclave and will shortly be undergoing debriefing.
- Agents wishing to petition for access to the Prisoner are invited to make contact with their Inquisitor and make a formal request via them in order to agree upon a time-slot for interrogation.
- All requests must be delivered by 4-787.597.M42 (15th October 2022).
- Agents wishing to petition for access to the Prisoner are invited to make contact with their Inquisitor and make a formal request via them in order to agree upon a time-slot for interrogation.
- The Ordos Prosperitas has officially pardoned Hadrian Grulge upon finding him to be an unwilling accomplice in the actions of his Husband. For those sins he has committed he will complete his penitence by acting as a Coordinating Chaplain for the Fidelis Militia.
- Farseer Rávarániel, recovered by Agents of the Ordo Xenos from what analysis suggests was possession by some form of SCENIC-adjacent threat, has been politely returned to her people by request of Lady-Inquisitor Duplesis. Though the Eldar are perfidious and should not be trusted, it would be ill timed to unnecessarily agitate a conflict with them - Agents are recommended to make best use of these alliances where they last.

++ On Nivalis ++
- The death of Planetary-Marshall Delphina of Nivalis at the hands of Templar excruciators having been confirmed, the High Marshall of Subsector Primus - Kemal Jabez - is believed to have turned their attention to the question of Nivalis. It is on good authority that, based on testimony from Deputy Marshall Enos Rhut, they intend to appoint Lord Teneros Virellian-Volkov to the Planetary Marshall’s role. This is widely seen as a stinging political rebuttal to the position of Marshall-Protector Drusilla Vox.
- While many leading figures among Nivalis’ mountain folk are poised for rapid integration into the changing structures of the former Shrine-World, one is notably absent. Ardeth Fehr has been inducted into the service of Lord Inquisitor Aetos as an Interrogator, and is expected to return to Nivalis in the coming days to support the Qawm’s cooperation in dismantling the Temple.
- On Nivalis itself, the Arbites do not hesitate long before beginning to sweep up those who collaborated with the Templars. Deputy-Marshall Rhut has obtained evidence which leads to dozens of arrests among the local nobility, with a distinct trend toward quickly removing from power the families occupying traditional Qawm land. The nobility having largely failed to contribute to the defence of the city, there is little to no opposition to these measures. Among the most notable Houses whose lands are confiscated, Scions executed or both for overt cooperation with the Heresiarch are House Thornhalt, House Arctheim, House Yaan, House Van Syult, House De Bordaal, House Rathstein and House Rauchstadt. As accomplices of the Temple, all of these families are reduced to penury and disgraced in the eyes of their peers; nobles on paper only.
- The Gearwrights on Nivalis suddenly appear to be everywhere; in the city’s defence and the wake of the fighting, the former Olethran refugees quickly emerge as a functioning logistical infrastructure, arranging mutual aid and sharing the words of their Saint with a population hungry for reassurance.
++ Elsewhere in the Sector ++
- During the Silence, a contingent of Regency forces were able to strike behind Imperial lines, bypassing the Cerastes Salient blockade at Helaerus and making planetfall on Kirckud III. The 1061st Composite (Abhuman) Auxilia, stationed on-world for training exercises, became heavily embroiled in a rapidly-evolving guerilla conflict in the Wildwood of the Eastern continent and were functionally destroyed suppressing the Sovereign Order’s deepstrike. The affair might have been embarrassing for the Salient’s commander, General Astara, had anything more relevant than abhumans been lost. More widespread disruption is prevented in no small part due to tactical flexibility on the part of General Mhairi Ni Crol in leadership of the continent's PDF, as well as emphatic action by Imperial authorities under Governor Aoife mac Sachairi to suppress the Rising Flame and other dissidents.
- The Rising Flame pick up upon rumours of the Imperium moving to install a Ruwwadi Governor on Nivalis and the transfer of power in regions controlled by the Qawm as well as the return of land as an opportunity and proof that if they remain strong even in the face of Imperial brutality the same can be achieved on other worlds contested by the native cultures of the Sector. While undeniably a political win for the Flame this also see’s a cooling off in some areas of the sector the Flame are known to be operating in with local cells encouraging less violent methods of resistance and a reduction in attacks on civilian targets.
- News of the death of Davion Morgante, the Butcher of Shadowglow, is received with glee by the Raivans who repelled his assault on their homeworld. Renewed morale among the Raivans of Cerastes Salient is noted with relief by exhausted commanders on the Rimward front.
- Similarly, the execution of Scyre Parnassus receives an immediate reaction on St Sebastian’s Redoubt. To the shock of the occupying Templars, a violent and bloody rebellion immediately rises against them; ordinarily meek clerks and menials of the station erupt into surprisingly well-drilled violence. It transpires they have been leant backbone by effort of the students of the Scarlet Wing’s Schola Progenium, many of whom are now clearly on-track for the Officio Praefectus. The framework of the ‘sudden’ rebellion was painstakingly constructed over the years of the Silence by a visiting Commissar, Demelza Quinn; rumour has it that the Officio Praefectus intend to bestow the rank of Lord Commissar for her prevention of yet another case of potentially devastating corruption of a Schola class by heretical agents. Few in the Sector entirely expect the Commissariat to accept an Ecclesiarchy governor on the Redoubt again until the ranks of the Ministorum in the Sector have been thoroughly cleansed - to this end the Redoubt currently falls under the governance of Commissar Quinn.
- Elsewhere, rumours of the death of Lord-Governor Egon Gaudin cause immediate alarm on Butonia; the war-torn world sees riots and panic break out as the prospect of a resurgence of the civil collapses and conflicts of the previous decades. With the Templar forces on world being dismantled by the Arbites, a concerning number of Rising Flame banners and sigils are noticed being carried and marked in various areas as the rebel group moves in to provide support for the peasant population while the Noble Houses of the world bicker. At present they stand on the cusp of a succession war that threatens to wipe out the last vestiges of the ‘original’ Butonian lines of Nobility. It is rumoured that House Vilas-Lobo, whose mining world of Bachian IV is just a warp-jump away, is looking for a favourable ally in the fighting to assert rule over the resource-rich planet.
- On Letifer, however, word spreads of the heroism of their Regiments on Nivalis in defence of the Sector Cathedral, and rumours of miracles in the defence of the Shrine of St Lucas Rhein. The stories spread through the hives and sumps faster than any toxin. Some claim that the Letiferan Immortals returned from the dead at the Saint’s bidding, at the hour of greatest need for their kin in arms; Guard recruiting stations find themselves in the rare situation, for a world more renowned for its criminal output, of being overwhelmed by volunteers. For the first time in known memory the planet experiences a brief break in cloud cover over Hive Mohr Holt illuminating the hive in brilliant sunshine; it is considered a miracle and a sign of Letifer’s blessing. Pilgrim vessels begin arriving to visit Hive Mohr Holt shortly after.
- The first Imperial vessels arrive on Merewald, the last Imperial world to be reconnected with at the end of the Silence. Due to the technophobic beliefs of its population spread by the prominent Ecclesiarchy sect the Followers of Saint Ludlam, Merewald lacks long-range communications technology that could have provided any alternative to astropathy, leaving them cut off from even the minimal relays possible during the long years of isolation. As a result, the incoming ships are shocked to discover a world suffering greatly from a series of poor harvests, with famine widespread in some areas. A great deal of unrest amongst the feudal Serfs of the planet has been stoked by the Nobility retaining a great deal of crops that could have been used to feed them, rotting in silos awaiting tithe-fleets that have not come until now. Despite begrudging hostility from the Followers, Arbites forces are permitted to deploy to the surface with full equipment to break up the worst of the discontent and restore order within the farming combines.
- The Crusade Fleets have regathered and begun to regroup to their Salients, and Warmaster Khan’s orders began to flow as soon as the Warp’s corridors cleared once more. How well the Salients have weathered the Silence is variable, but one clear message is broadcast across the fleet: with all of the fragmented pieces of the Navy that limped home to her, Polarnus Stands. Not only did the heart of the Crusade survive the Silence without starving itself, the vessels there have by all accounts refitted and recrewed in unusually good order; the period without transit in and out has been used to reconstruct the emplaced defences and purge some of the nastier mutant, criminal and Weeping Eye holdouts from the station’s darker corners.
- A Scion of the beggared House Monforte is claimed to have been assassinated by Aeldari Corsairs connected with the Circle of Thorns on Carthusia; Ordo Xenos agents are understood to have driven off the aliens, and the matter has avoided drawing significant or accurate attention on the newscasts of the world or subsector.
++ Rumours ++
++ Be aware that the veracity of this information has not be ascertained and carries with it a class-2 warning of unreliability [class-2.information is gathered via un-enhanced interrogation or state surveillance]++
- Scattered reports suggest sporadic attacks on isolated hamlets and outposts to the west of the Cathedral central zone; it is widely believed that the Archenemy has infiltrated a vile servant of some sort into the mountain refuges of the Qawm, and outlying settlements band together in an effort to ward off a beast which cracks skulls and devours their contents in the night.
- A sudden uptick in active counter-Imperial data-surveillance and activity by the Prefecture Magisterium of Naximus Prime has been registered by Inquisition monitors. On diplomatic channels, by contrast, the reclusive Forge World has gone - for want of a better description - a bit too quiet.
- The fighting on the Sector’s Rimward front has slowed the trade in Helots from Caracas, but the latest shipments of the avian beastmen known as Ēkara have brought with them rumours: of ongoing Archenemy assault; of uncanny, spindly, light-fearing monsters in the wilds of the Feral World; of the 3rd Agrial Volunteers decimated and struggling, far beyond the reliable reach of the Imperial front lines.
- Scattered vid clips have made it onto the interplanetary networks, showing what is claimed to be the arrest of Cadmium Redd, wanted traitor and seditionist of the Redd Planet Flip band, while performing at an unsanctioned gig on Monacus. While no official recording of an execution has yet been publicised, the Sector’s Bounty Hunters have withdrawn Redd’s bounty without a claim - and there are whispers saying the Inquisition moved to handle the matter themselves after the guilds failed to apprehend the musician.
- There are rumours that, following the posting of bounties upon several members of House Qureshi, Lalah Qureshi has been summoned before her Naximan Masters to account for involvement of her scions in protection of Gearwrights (considered labour-agitators by the Naximan Priesthood) - rumour has it that Lalah has refused this request and informed Naximus that she is not their dog to be called to heel when they remember she exists.
- There are rumours that the recent upset on Merewald has seen an increasing number of Nobles begin considering welcoming more technology onto the world. It is said that the Followers of Saint Ludlam as well as the more traditional Nobility and many Serfs are upset with the appearance of more machinery in the countryside; but the erosion of Ecclesiarchy authority as a result of the outcomes of Nivalis is likely being felt, as the adoption of technology finally starts to pick up pace on Merewald.
- A detachment of Sisters from the Order of the Eternal Gate - one of the Adepta Sororitas’ Orders Pronatus - have arrived in the Sector, declaring their intent to see relics lost to the hands of the Templars restored to their proper places of veneration. While many expect them to make an immediate move toward Agrial III, in practice they spread out into smaller teams across the embattled fronts of Subsector Tertius.
++ List of Wanted Individuals ++
Be Aware: This list is drawn from Arbites and Coalition of Reclamation and Apprehension Guilds records. Unlicensed pursuit of any of these individuals by someone not an Arbiter of the Lex Imperialis, or a deputised and sanctioned representative [Cit.Ref Enforcer or Bounty Hunter], is strictly prohibited.
The Coalition of Reclamation and Apprehension Guilds kindly reminds citizens that unsanctioned bounty hunters are criminals, and subject to the harshest penalties by Guild Law. The law is for sanctioned professionals. Taking the law into your own hands is against the law.
++ Notes ++
We’re rebuilding a lot of our bounty-lists Hunters, the Silence fucked up a lot of records so confirming that various bounties are still going to be honoured is taking time - it’s frustrating -we know- but at least we’ve got some reposted ones.
The Coalition of Reclamation and Apprehension Guids would like to remind all Hunters that it will continue not to honour any bounties on any individual operating under the name Klaus Hendrickson until further notices.
++ Rescinded Bounties ++
The following bounties are rescinded.
- Cadmium Redd - Sorry Hunters, looks like the Big I beat you all to her. Let’s not give up hope though; it wouldn’t be the first time she’s slipped out of the hands of even one of their Agents.
++ Active Bounties ++
The following bounties remain active for collection.
- House-Scion Mitra Qureshi [Wanted: Alive for Interrogation]
For the Crimes of: Theft of Holy Ordinance and Proprietary Technologies of Naximus Prime, dereliction of duty to the Legio Custodii Incudem, falsely wearing the adornments of a bonded Knight-Scion, aiding of disruptive anti-labour elements and treason against her bound Masters under the Sidon Protocols.
- Magos Aleph 82608 Satyajit [Wanted: Alive for Interrogation]
For the Crimes of: Theft of Holy Ordinance and Proprietary Technologies of Naximus Prime, dereliction of duty to the Legio Custodii Incudem, aiding of disruptive anti-labour elements, and breaking of oaths to Forge and Faith.
- Knight-Scion Archeleus Zahak [Wanted: Alive for Interrogation]
For the Crimes of: Aiding disruptive anti-labour elements, treason against their bound Masters under the Sidon Protocols and association with known Hereteks.
- House-Scion Ki’ara Shahi-Qureshi [Wanted: Alive for Interrogation]
For the Crimes of: Aiding disruptive anti-labour elements, treason against her bound Masters under the Sidon Protocols and association with known Hereteks.
- Channel-Capacity-Is-Proportional-To-Bandwidth Levinson [Wanted: Alive for Interrogation]
For the Crimes of: Violations of the Universal Laws, Impersonating the ident-code of another Forge and association with known Hereteks.
Well, that’s a lot of bounties posted by one organisation, and an unusual one too: we don’t get much contract work out of Naximus Prime at all, and I’ve ‘’never’’ seen either this many or a posting by the Prefecture Magisterium. The money is good, or you can probably get a hold full of forge-fresh gear as pay instead - not a tonne of details on these lot but we’ve got visual idents for the lot of them and a few lists of how they’re modified. Like most red-robes we’re looking at a lot of tech and high-end gear, so bring your best equipment and don’t be stingy on the haywire grenades.
Handover will be brokered by the CRAG - yeah, I know I know you all hate processing fees, but trust me you don’t want to try and do this direct. The client is paying for a controlled environment so you drop off your bounty with your nearest Guildship and we’ll handle the rest. Never forget the red-robes don’t think like you and I; they’ll honour a contract when we’re backing it, but you look an awful lot like a servitor waiting to happen to them.
- Sharre Ajax [Remains at Large] [Wanted: Alive or Dead]
For the Crimes of: Arch-Heresy, Recidivism, Membership of a Proscribed Organisation (Rising Flame), Incitement to rebellion against his lawful Imperial Masters, attacks on Imperial citizenry and infrastructure, illegal acquisition of Militarum-grade equipment and numerous other charges.
In case it’s passed your notice, there’s been a ‘’lot’’ of RF activity. We’ve got a good few outstanding warrants and small fry bounties on pretty much any RF you can drag into an Arbites or Guild outpost with evidence they were are bad’un - but nothing pays like the big man himself. Nobody has had sight of Ajax since before the silence, but the bounty on him is backed by House Durovera money so there’s value in hunting down a corpse if it comes to that and you can gene-screen it to prove it’s him. Honestly, at this stage it looks like the Arbites and the Governor would pay good money just to know how afraid they need to be of their boogeyman.
- Jareth Quill & Aemme Weaver [Wanted: Alive]
For the Crimes of: Eloping without Sanction of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica, Polluting the purity of the Terran genetic standard, Absconding with Adeptus Astra Telepathica Property (Quill), Dereliction of Duty to His Majesties Adeptus Astra Telepathica (Weaver), Numerous crimes against the Houses of Monacus and the Monacus Guild of Coin, Bringing Shame to an Imperial Office, Evading Arrest.
I know a couple of you, especially you two, you know who you are - are really keen on keeping this hunt updated and we’re doing our best, but turns out there’s not ‘only so many’ gambling houses you can defraud before you run out of them because a Sector is a constantly shifting web of enterprises. A shout out to two of our newest hunters who are always ONE step behind these two, keep it going! You’ll catch them soon.
