++ INQUISITORIAL CORDON OF AMENOPHIS IV NOW IN PLACE ++ ALL COMMUNICATIONS INTERDICTED ++

Flash Briefing

Between 4-720.598.M41 and 5-787.598.M41, multiple agents of the Ordos Prosperitas and one main task force grouping were deployed to Amenophis IV, in response to initially-unconnected reports of local disturbances. The foci of these investigations included the kidnap of one of the Governors, the disappearance of pilgrims and Sisters of the Eternal Gate in the Empty Quarter, identification of a Serpent Cult infiltration group, [MISSION REDACTED], and a blockade run by Herforingi Greppur Tain, breaking out from Kelper Prime at the cost of significant Archenemy ships and forces. These investigations converged on the Place of the Tombs, one of the most spiritually significant locations to the Imperial Cult.

Inquisitor on Station - Inquisitor-Militant Corvinus, Ordo Hereticus:

“It appears that task force TENELOCUS’ pursuit of Objective SNAPSHOT - Archenemy Warband Leader, Greppur Tain - ran into an… evolving situation. While my reputation for exacting standards would have demanded I issue harsh words over the failure to destroy him, I fully support and indeed commend my Task Force Commander, Interrogator Pyke, and Scion Zahak’s decision to place control of the planetary situation above the minutiae of a single target. The Sector requires order and stability; the Conclave demands order and stability.”

“To that end, the Conclave has imposed an Inquisitorial interdiction of Amenophis IV. While disruptive to trade and supply lines, the short-term shock is preferable to long term loss of control of spreading news. All agents in the vicinity are expected to support this blackout and containment over the coming weeks. During this time, we will consider the fate of this world and all those who have been exposed to matters within the Inquisition’s remit.

“Following preliminary reports, I particularly caution agents who have been thus far permitted to retain rank and status with a noble House: there is to be no exploitation of the situation for an individual’s family’s profit, no matter how important you think your bloodline. The worst excesses of the Trade War are too recent; adjustments to Amenophis’ political situation will be enacted with the approval of the Conclave or not at all. We may require you to work within the bounds of respect for the Houses out of respect for Imperial order and political necessity, but never make the mistake of placing your blood or name above your service to the Inquisition. Disobedience to this edict will result in the rapid execution for treason of your public identity, which - depending on your usefulness to your own Inquisitor - you may or may not be permitted to physically survive. You will take political actions with our direct and explicit approval, or you will not take them at all. Do not make me repeat myself."

“Returning to the matter of the enemy without: prognostication indicates Obj SNAPSHOT has departed from Amenophis IV. Perhaps worryingly coincidentally to this prognostication Planetary Defence Grids detected a single Thunderhawk-type Transport entering the planetary stratosphere, unchallenged due to their crews being compromised by the rising Ashen threat - for those agents not familiar with the armouries of the Adeptus Astartes, the Thunderhawk is an ancient model of transport craft used almost exclusively by their number. Given the all-to-familiar icon of the Eye of Horus used by our enemies in recent conflicts recorded in a snapshot of the vessel captured by long-range scopes, this would point toward the Tain siblings cooperating with our thus-far unidentified hostile warband of traitor Astartes and potential evidence of a coordinating presence guiding Archenemy actions.”

“The matters of the Aeldari wraith, sudden apparent plague of lizards on-world and all associated matters - in particular the unacceptable situation of the Planetary Governors - that I shall defer to the Lady-Inquisitor of the Ordo Xenos’ expertise.”

Inquisitor on Station - Lady-Inquisitor Duplesis, Ordo Xenos:

“It is fortunate that I was on hand to respond, thanks to Interrogator Di Firro’s long watch on Amenophis. What has happened here is the awakening of a very ancient psychic device within the planet’s crust, something the Aeldari refer to as a 'World Spirit'. These are hardly unknown in the Sector - another is currently functional in Midsummer, and there are ruins of similar nature in other locations; what is unusual is the presence of some remnant spirit of its builder. It seems that Nuada - the Wraith encountered during Operation VOLUME on Nivalis last year - somehow made its way to Amenophis, and, by its actions, stirred up that entity; which I suspect to be one of the Old Ones - a Xenos species designated as Slann, whose oldest servant races were lizardlike, and are now largely believed to have transcended physical form. So, it is Xenos spectres all the way down. Thankfully, at least one was removed from play by Interrogator Woods.

“The activation of this World Spirit is, I regret to tell you, irreversible. Put aside any hopes of just shoving all the lizards back in the box, and getting back the nice tidy desert: the planet’s conversion to a new climate will most likely be permanent, and one way or the other, the population of Amenophis will have to share space with this plague of lizards. I don't need to remind you that Amenophis is critical to Imperial construction and materiel supply lines - we cannot afford to lose it if we have any hope to sustain our borders against the Regency onslaught, or to maintain the Cadian Corridor and Subsector Tertius at all. With the help of Watch-Captain Apollo of the Deathwatch, I have tried to determine what would take to disable the Xenos engines within the planet. In short: it cannot be done - too much Empyreal energy feedback through the World Spirit would result in a cataclysmic psychic detonation, that, given the thin barriers between reality and the warp on Amenophis so close to Eye-Storm Tenebris, would likely result in the unacceptable strategic loss of the world and a warp-rift. It will take decades, perhaps centuries for the energy to be sufficiently dissipated to safely deactivate these spawning engines.”

“As a potential complication, the Governors who have a direct control over the power of long-dead Slann belong to an irrelevant minor House. It would not surprise me if they decided to try and emulate House Volkov, and leverage their newfound power to improve their standing to that of a Major House - or at least to have matching coffers. I would be far more comfortable if this sort of power could be put in the hands of someone with a lot less to win, or who is, at least, more likely to work with the Conclave - I did consider involving the Sisters Famulous to push this in the right direction, perhaps by getting them absorbed by one of our allied Major Houses. However, the Conclave’s relationship with the Vilas-Lobos is already tense; I am certain they would become outright hostile if they so much as suspected we were plotting to play dynastic games behind the scenes, and cost them their shiny new agriworld. Not to mention that, as little as I like the Governors being in control right now, I would like it a lot less if a long-dead Slann was holding that power. Still, maintaining some degree of control over the Governors will be easy. What won’t be as easy is ensuring that the Vilas-Lobo don’t catch wind of their unique situation - they would immediately burn both of them at the stake, given their obsession with purity and fairly notorious hatred of Xenos.”

“I won’t lie, this will be a nightmare to manage - but with the planet cordoned off early on, we have a chance to actually succeed.”

Inquisitor Consulting - Lady-Inquisitor Haslinger, Ordo Malleus:

“On the contrary; it does seem that my esteemed colleague has lost sight of the spiritually strategic picture - no doubt due to her ongoing fascination with her specialism. No Imperial citizen, nevermind a Governor, should agree to become contaminated in this regard - not even if given poisonously incorrect moral advice from the Ordo Xenos. The only possible solution to billions of aliens puppetting the Imperial Commanders of a world is to enact Exterminatus. There can be no other purpose to this cordon and there is no other acceptable outcome.”

Inquisitor Consulting - Inquisitor Zahid, Ordo Hereticus:

“I trust I need not remind my valued colleague that we have previously agreed a Writ of Exterminatus shall only be placed within this Sector by a majority vote of the Inquisitors of the Ordos Prosperitas. That matter be as it may; a greater threat in the long term has also revealed itself on-world - and to my shame, has been exacerbated and has escaped from our control by the self-confessed actions of my own agents. The Place of the Tombs transpired to hold one of the Sarcophagi that my Retinue have previously designated Objective WINTER; these caskets contain the entities known as Haegates. They are a coven we suspect of being ancient worshippers of the Sleeping Darkness, dating from before the Great Crusade. The release of such a Greater Servant of the Darkness outweighs all other consequences of the current situation, and is of far greater import than one world.

“In the meantime, the destruction of one of the most sacred shrines on Amenophis at the hands of the Inquisition will have serious repercussions of its own, presuming we do not sabotage our situation with an ill-considered rush to remedy destruction with further destruction. This iconoclastic travesty very much limits our room for manoeuvre regarding remediation of the local Imperial Cult. Until the Shrine of the Sun-Emperor At Noon can be rebuilt and reconsecrated at the Place of the Tombs, it is impossible for the Tomb-Priests to properly consecrate and initiate a new kheri-hab to care for the site. While the banishment of two Greater Malefica has substantially lowered the potential consequences of a failure of the Rites of the Tombs, we cannot take the spiritual risk of simply halting the Amenophan calendar of worship. Careful handling is needed to prevent the population melting back down into mass panic and resultant Ashen infection - they are already on the brink.”

Inquisitor Consulting - Inquisitor Valtrois, Ordo Astartes:

“Amenophis is significant to the Sector in what I shall term a structural fashion, and it retains wider strategic importance. The containment of the Aeldari Wraith - Objective ETESIAN - and other stabilisations have made possible the rehabilitation of the population from what would have been a critical mass of Ashen at a key nexus-point. The recovery of the Governors alive and nominally intact to the public eye and survival of the kheri-hab, all able to make public statements under our guidance; the halting of the scrapcode we saw spreading through the planet’s industrial servitors… these have bought us room for manoeuvre. If our remediation steps now cause mass panic, that work will have been for naught. I frankly commend the agents deployed for preserving sufficient control of the situation that we have the opportunity to avoid disaster; make no mistake that this was a very near miss.”

Inquisitor Consulting - Lord-Inquisitor Aetós, Ordo Malleus:

“All of these factors shall be considered, and specific advice sought from the Agents on the ground. In the meantime, I have been contacted regarding claims that an Acolyte of mine, named as Intelligencer Temenet-Ipu, was encountered at the Blacksite of the Place of the Tombs. This individual was not a member of my Retinue, yet their name does appear in the rolls of the Ordo Malleus’ servants. They were a senior Acolyte of Lord-Inquisitor Andros, the Ordo Malleus representative on the Triumvirate - a group of senior Inquisitors who led the Prosperitas Conclave between the Decapitation and their ill-fated meeting on Everholt in 586.M41. The Intelligencer’s allegiance was to an Inquisitor who has been dead for over a decade. Whether or not they were aware of this remains to be understood.

“On the Scribes’ further investigation, we are clear that Blacksite Amaranth has for most of its history been surprisingly circumspect in its reporting - a ghost site even within our own archives. The record-keepers responsible have much to explain, and shall soon do so at length. Given the notable disappearance of the commanding Intelligencer on the morning of my colleague’s arrival, we may hold justified suspicion regarding their intentions and allegiances. Whether more evidence survives in the Blacksite’s ruins remains to be discovered - as does just how many other Blacksites might be similarly hidden from us.”

++ REQUESTS TO AGENTS DEPLOYED TO AMENOPHIS IV ++

The Conclave will soon sit in judgement over the world of Amenophis IV and determine the course to be taken in handling the outcomes of this deployment. Agents involved in events on-world who have not yet rendered a report are invited to do so. The following requests for information and input go out to all Agents deployed to Amenophis IV in the course of the last sixty standard days:

The Judgement of Amenophis IV

This hitherto-stable Imperial world is currently undergoing a sudden, alarming and impossible-to-conceal change of climate; its Governors have become bonded to items of ancient Xenotechnology, and potentially billions of Xenoforms are springing to life within its shell. Though many of the threats to the planet have been resolved or driven off, mass panic and resultant degeneration into Ashen Cult rioting is one lapse in control or ill-timed decision away. The most trusted voices among its spiritual leaders have survived, but their purity is in question. Amenophis is a critical element in the Sector’s military defences, and has historically been noted for its compliance and loyalty; the Conclave of the Ordos Prosperitas must now judge - does this world now stand beyond salvation?

The following courses of action have been formally proposed:

1. The Iron Hand in the Velvet Glove

Under this proposal, the Conclave would take an active but subtle hand in steering the leadership of Amenophis’ government. A rotation of Inquisitorial Advisors, handlers and guards would monitor the Governors and the contact with the Cuetzpali, without interfering in the day to day running of the planet. The Governors and Kheri-hab would be induced to make appropriate proclamations hailing the transformation of the climate as a miracle and a sign of the Emperor’s munificence, purging the last of the Ashen taint with exhortations for the populace to pray, rejoice, and learn to function within their new world within carefully limited and religiously-enforced bounds - designed to keep them away from the remote valleys and caverns now inhabited by the Cuetzpali. This will require some management of the situation between House Setep as a vassal-house of Vilas-Lobo as it is likely that only by maintaining the image that House Setep is in control of the situation that greater scrutiny by the Great House will be avoided.

Risks and Consequences: This proposal’s proponents say that it is the duty of the Inquisition to enact courses that other bodies of state could not, and to take on the moral burden of choices with no acceptable answer for the good of the Imperium as a whole. This course would allow Amenophis to transition largely peaceably to an Agri-World, with a significant resurgence of pilgrimage taking up the loss of capacity on Nivalis and reinforcing the Ministorum stability. It would also allow the Inquisition the means to monitor the activity of the Cuetzpali and exert future influence, and furthermore to access resources on Amenophis useful in combating the forces of the Darkness across the Sector. This proposal’s opponents say it requires a blasphemous lie at its heart, tolerates corruption at the highest levels of Imperial society, and risks every human soul on the planet to the corruption of the Alien.

2. Negotiation Is Surrender

Under this proposal, the Conclave would assert Inquisitorial jurisdiction over the Amenophis system indefinitely. The Governors would be strictly contained within a cordon of Inquisition personnel, and all decisions on planetary governance would be passed through Conclave scrutiny before being enacted. House Vilas-Lobo would undoubtedly react strongly to this assertion of authority; it is not certain that the Conclave could afford or would even win such a confrontation given the considerable wealth and power that the House wields. The wider population would be told a nonspecific narrative regarding activation of an ancient terraforming device, one destroyed in the process of activation; they would be encouraged only to remain within their Hives and pray, with heavily enforced programmes of censorship and onerous worship orders used to damp curiosity. Adeptus Mechanicus interest would be controlled by the cordon on an ongoing basis.

Risks and Consequences: This proposal’s proponents say that this is the course which will protect the wider Sector without requiring full moral compromise; the commitment of resources and the conflicts that may arise from it are a small price to pay for moral propriety. Its opponents say that it provokes open war between the Inquisition and the nobility as a whole and the Inquisition and the Adeptus Mechanicus, conflicts the Conclave cannot win; that it invites the rooting of a long-term, persistent Ashen infestation; and that it guarantees the eventual conflict with the Cuetzpali will take place on their terms, not those of the Imperium.

3. Ultimate Sanction

Under this proposal, the world of Amenophis IV would be subjected to the Imperium’s final and most terrible judgement: Exterminatus Extremis. Inquisitorial asset vessels capable of conducting orbital bombardment and vessels commandeered from the Imperial Navy for the same capability would be ordered to Amenophis. The planet would be assailed with a combination of mass drivers and cyclonic torpedoes, with the goal of generating omnicidal tectonic activity and the eventual ignition of the atmosphere. The planet would be rendered lifeless and uninhabitable.

Risks and Consequences: This proposal’s proponents say that if successful, eight billion Imperial souls would be granted the Emperor’s Mercy by this action and purified of their contact with the Enemy; the Xenoforms present on-world would be eliminated; and all questions of public opinion or future investigation would be rendered moot. This proposal’s opponents note that if successful this would create a disastrous outspilling of the Empyreal energy currently being dissipated within the World Shrine, with Sector-wide consequences; that the collapse of Subsector Tertius and far-reaching damage to the Crusade would be foreseeable outcomes; and that due to the presence of that self-same World Shrine’s defences, success is far from a foregone conclusion.

It is worth noting that regardless of the outcome the Conclave ends up on there will be a seismic political effect on the sector of the events of this mission. The net gain of an agri-world along with the redevelopment Merewald is a massive strategic boon to the sector, but it fundamentally changes the balance of the Sectors politics. Until now, neither House Vilas-Lobo nor House Durovera laid claim to an Agri-World, and while Amenophis will take years to develop into a tithe-making world it undeniably falls within control of Vilas-Lobo and shifts the political power in their favour.

Assets Held for Disposal

While determining the fate of Amenophis, the Conclave has delegated disposal of individuals of note held within the area controlled by Inquisition forces at the conclusion of this deployment. Agents’ judgement is invited regarding the following groups of individuals:

1. Former Imperial Navy and Guard personnel, led by Flight Lieutenant Dahla Silverheart, service number G1014Φ2359: brought to Amenophis as slaves by the Warband of Greppur Tain and recovered by Inquisitorial Agents, many of these Imperial citizens were capturing during the siege of Polarnus and occupation of Kelper Prime. They have been exposed to the presence of a Chaos Champion in person for an extended period, and have served the Archenemy while captive.

Options: The recovered personnel may be remanded into Inquisitorial service, debriefed of all relevant information and assigned to service as penance; or they may be granted absolution by burning at the stake to purify them of their exposure to the Archenemy.

2. Sisters of the Eternal Gate, led by Sister Palatine Iona Geneveri: present on Amenophis supporting the Tomb-Priests and raising support for the Crusade in Subsector Tertius. The Sisters’ will was suborned by Obj EPHESIAN, resulting in their complicity in the escape of the Haegate from confinement, due to an induced delusion that they were recovering the body of an Imperial Saint. They have been exposed to the power of a Greater Servant of the Darkness, the long-term effects of which are unknown.

Options: The Sisters may be released back to their work in Subsector Tertius, under the ordinary oversight of Inquisitor Zahid in line with their role as Chamber Militant to the Ordo Hereticus; or they may be designated to have been killed in action and handed to the Ordo Malleus for further investigation of the effects of the Ashen taint on the Imperium’s defenders of the faith. Lady-Inquisitor Haslinger believes she can advance our understanding of the Ashen thread significantly by their martyrdom.

3. The Priests, Pilgrims and Local Serfs of the Place of the Tombs, led by kheri-hab Djedi-Hesir: Trusted leaders of the planetary Ecclesiarchy and bastions of the Amenophan Imperial Creed, respected by both the Adepta Sororitas and the wider Sector Ecclesiarchy, plus their congregants and support staff; all of whom have been exposed to the depredations of the Archenemy, witnessed the rise of the Xenos Cuetzpali, and have been brought into in-depth involvement with the business of the Inquisition.

Options: The local Tomb-Priests could be preserved and used to maintain ongoing leverage over the beliefs of the population of Amenophis and to provide the Inquisition with their deep knowledge of the specific spiritual dangers surrounding its history; or they could be retained long enough for any immediate religious pronouncements, before being granted absolution by burning at the stake to purify them of their exposure to the Archenemy.

++ REQUESTS TO ALL AGENTS ++

The following requests for information and input are open to all Agents of the Ordos Prosperitas, including those not deployed to Amenophis IV.

Invitation to Advise Inquisitor-Militant Corvinus - The Conduct of House Vilas-Lobo and the wider Imperial Nobility

“The actions of Alderberto Vilas-Lobo as Trade-Legate to Amenophis are problematic in the extreme, and directly responsible for the spread of the panic across the surface that amplified the Ashen threat. The power games at play here are typical of the Imperial Nobility, but in this circumstance highlight how dangerous these power-plays are when they coincide with outbreaks of this infection.”

“The case has been made in some, fanciful, reports that the Inquisition should march though the doors of House Vilas-Lobo and put them all to the stake. And while I too have nursed a good amsec and dreamed horrific vengeance on every noble who has interfered with my duties…these do not necessarily meet up with reality. House Vilas-Lobo holds considerable political power in this sector, and draw heritage to the Terran House Lobos-Reais who were involved in providing manpower that rebuilt Terra after the Heresy - challenging them up front would represent a civil war the Inquisition has no interest in inviting in this sector.”

“However, it is undeniable that within the wider context of the constant venal infighting of every Noble House we cannot deny the danger they possess to the stability we need to correctly counteract the threat of the Ashen. The role of the Inquisition is to guide those blessed with ignorance: since they cannot be trusted with knowledge of the threats they are enabling, we must develop the means to keep them within their boundaries - without engendering open conflict. Such as using the wealth of blackmail material we have now on the Legate to ensure he remains a compliant ally of our House, for fear of us disclosing his indiscretions to his House superiors.”

All Agents are granted the opportunity to offer Inquisitor-Militant Corvinus commentary and advice on the Inquisition’s handling of the Sector Nobility, including approaches to specific families or individual nobles or intelligence on the threats they present. Agents reporting on this matter are commanded to clearly disclose both current and past ties and allegiances to any Noble House.

Request from Lady-Inquisitor Duplesis - The Prefecture Magisterium

“It has been some years since a sniper has come close enough to take a shot at me, and I cannot say I enjoy the experience any more than I remembered. My Acolytes have informed me the assailant was one of the Prefecture Magisterium, who had expressed some unclear differences of opinion with agents deployed on the ground. I usually prefer not to be surprised by conflicts with the Machine Cult that are severe enough to have their little internal enforcers attacking Inquisitors. Between that and the flurry of bounties the Naximan Prefecture Magisterium have been placing? I now have questions - and I expect explanations. Very prompt, very thorough explanations.”

Any information or witness accounts related to the reason for the Naximan Prefecture Magisterium’s attacks on Inquisitorial agents are to be reported to Lady-Inquisitor Duplesis.

++ JUDGEMENTS OF THE PROSPERITAS CONCLAVE ++

Allegations against Interrogator Pyke

Interrogator Pyke stands accused of opposing the actions of other Inquisitorial Agents, ordering members of Task Force TENELOCUS to deny co-operation to other Inquisitorial Agents, and causing the loss of a Psykic asset assigned to his command, in a manner carrying risk to the life of an Inquisitor.

Inquisitor-Militant Corvinus responds: “Yes, I am well aware that my Interrogator did his duty in opposing what seems to have been akin to a rampage by agents who threatened his mission. My only criticism lies in that his response to them was comparatively restrained.”

Lady-Inquisitor Duplesis appends: “Risk to the life of an Inquisitor? I was not aware that one besides myself was deployed.”

Interrogator Pyke is found to have acted within his authority as commander of Task Force TENELOCUS, and has no case to answer.

Allegations against Interrogator Dharus Woods

Interrogator Woods stands accused of use of the armaments of the Xenos, and of engaging in and promoting Task Force communication with the Xenos Cuetzpali.

Lady-Inquisitor Duplesis responds: It is almost fascinating that someone thinks so much of themselves as to suggest they know better than one of my Interrogators as to what the Ordo Xenos does or does not permit. Yes, Acolytes of the Ordo Xenos are permitted to handle the artefacts of the enemy. Yes, Acolytes of the Ordo Xenos are permitted - and expected - to communicate with the enemy, when vital information is needed. And if any doubt remains as to why my Acolytes have this much freedom to act, I remind you that any hope of salvaging this luckless planet came from my Interrogator’s willingness to see to his duties.”

Interrogator Woods is found to have acted within his Inquisitor’s rules of engagement and remit, and his conduct is deemed sanctioned.

Allegations against Sister Superior Humility, Sister Piety and Sister Helara

Sister Piety stands accused of the wanton destruction of the Shrine of the Sun-Emperor-at-Noon in response to the goading of the Archenemy; and the murder of Scions of House Khufru.

Sister Hospitaller Helara stands accused of destruction of the wards resulting in the release of a Greater Servant of Darkness; and the murder of Scions of House Khufru.

Sister Superior Humility stands accused of interference in the work of Task Force TENELOCUS to the benefit of the Archenemy; taking Ecclesiastical orders as a Tomb-Priest of Amenophis in contravention of her vows to the Adepta Sororitas and the terms of the Decree Passive; complicity in her Sisters’ crimes; and the murder of Scions of House Khufru.

Inquisitor Zahid responds: “The charges of disruption to other Inquisitors’ agents, swearing of false oaths, destruction of a shrine and release of the Haegate have been confessed by Sister Superior Humility’s own report. Her lack of repentance in these matters is stark, and speaks of deeper moral compromise. While the matter of the Scions is investigated, I would prefer to oversee the Sisters’ rehabilitation to assess the depth of their error and its possible causes…but it appears that Lady-Inquisitor Haslinger has already retrieved the accused from the surface of Amenophis, following our discussion about her command providing the appropriate disciplinary needs of the Sororitas. I will of course smooth over any…issues that Canoness Dinah has with this transfer, but suffice to say I am disappointed with their actions, I had hoped for better, and I am sure the Canoness will share my disappointment.”

Lady-Inquisitor Haslinger responds: “As per our agreement as a Conclave, it is my right to lay claim to these agents - Interrogator Koenig will of course ensure that the correct disciplinary arrangements are made for these Agents, I assure my colleagues that once I have all three of them delivered directly to myself any disciplinary measures will be outlined to the conclave and if they are deemed to be…lacking, then I shall of course ensure that I will ensure twofold that whatever is left of them when Koenig is done will show…appropriate…forgiveness when all is said and done. Blessed are minds too small for doubt, when they are properly directed and controlled. I will see to that control, in abundance.”

It is the finding of the Ordo Prosperitas that the question of the murders of the House of Khufru remain outstanding. In all other charges, Sister Superior Humility, Sister Piety and Sister Hospitaller Helara are found guilty. - and are transferred to the excoriations of Lady-Inquisitor Haslinger to find purity and repentance for their actions.

Request for Further Information: Lord-Inquisitor Aetós and Inquisitor Zahid - Execution of the Scions of House Khufru and Conduct of the Adepta Sororitas

Lord-Inquisitor Aetós notes: “I have received conflicting reports regarding the execution-or-murder of the Scions of House Khufru. It is known that having been alleged tainted by warp-sickness, these members of the Imperial Nobility were disposed of out of hand; it is also claimed that this took place without attempt at purgation by Exorcism, and against the direct instructions of the Imperial Commanders of Amenophis. The status of the Khufru family and their integral position in supporting the Munitorum’s supply lines to the Aeronautica Imperialis renders their deaths of higher impact even than merely a question of the ordained Imperial social order. More information is needed to render judgement.”

Inquisitor Zahid notes: “Canoness Dinah does not have so many forces at her disposal as to lose track of any Sister easily. Whatever the outcome, the matter will need to be reported with finesse and discretion - as will the situation with the Sisters of the Eternal Gate. Wider remarks on the conduct of all of the Adepta Sororitas on Amenophis are accordingly invited, that we may provide the Canoness with a fitting picture of the situation.”

Witness accounts and assessments of the justifiability of the deaths of the Scions of House Khufru at the hands of Sister Superior Humility, Sister Piety and Sister Hospitaller Helara, or testimony as to the actions, conduct and character of any member of the Adepta Sororitas deployed to Amenophis, are to be reported to Lord-Inquisitor Aetós and Inquisitor Zahid.

++ IF YOU HAVE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION IT IS YOUR DUTY TO REPORT IT TO YOUR INQUISITOR ++

++ COMMENDATIONS OF THE PROSPERITAS CONCLAVE ++

Scion Corentyn Volkov

The Conclave as a whole notes and commends Scion Volkov’s assumption of the mantle and duties of a Tomb-Priest, and his instrumental role in ensuring the schedule of worship and sacred rites of the Tombs were resumed and maintained. His contribution is noted as instrumental to the salvation of the lives and souls of all at the Place of the Tombs, and Amenophis as a whole in direct consequence thereof.

OOC NOTES

If you wish for your character to respond to any of the Inquisitors’ requests for additional information, you can contact them by sending an email to the writing team.

While this could take the form of an IC letter, it does not have to be; and your characters’ comments do not need to address every point. A quick note saying “my character would tell Inquisitor A this” will be given as much consideration as a complex report document, so write what you enjoy!

Input into post-game resolution is strictly optional. Your character will not be penalised if you choose not to respond to these request - the only downside will be not having their opinion factored in. If you feel your character would respond but you OC don’t have the energy, it is fine to assume they sent a report and it was lost, misrouted or disregarded by the impenetrable bureaucracy the Imperium generates at every opportunity.

Lastly, please remember that the Inquisitors are not a gloss for a majority vote by the player characters: the NPCs will listen to agents whose comments are persuasive within the larger context of that NPC’s priorities, but they are not by and large reasonable individuals, and all are intractable on some points of opinion - it is the content of the information offered and the degree of confidence they place in a given PC which might sway their opinions and change the Conclave’s decisions.
